#FIBAAmericasWomen2015 - Historic pass for Venezuela

EDMONTON (2015 FIBA Americas Women’s Championship) - Venezuela's national team defeated Puerto Rico. 65-56, to win the fifth position of the continental tournament and classify for the first time to the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

• Turning Point:
The Puerto Ricans dominated the first set 24-9, but Venezuela made adjustments in defense and found its offensive rhythm to go to the top of the scoreboard, for the rest of the game.

Stats don’t lie: Argentina dominated the paint, scoring 32 of their points from the area under the basket and winning the rebound battle by a close 39 - 36. Venezuela also had a better field-goal percentage, 42 - 36.

• Game Hero: Daniela Wallen was the best for the Venezuelans, scoring 18 points and capturing 11 rebounds to record a "double-double".

• The Bottom Line: On a day when the National Federation of Venezuela turns 80 years-old, the Women's National Team finished in fifth place of the 2015 FIBA Americas Women’s Championship and qualified for the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where they will have the opportunity to secure a space in the Olympic Games.
